Bishamon Sapporo Ramen + Brewerkz

KL and I went on a girl friend date on Saturday. We grabbed a bite at a random Japanese place in Bugis Junction before heading over to Clarke Quay. We ate at Bishamon Sapporo Ramen, a small shop at the basement level. Even though the name is Bishamon Sapporo Ramen, we ironically didn’t eat ramen there.

I had a simple pork katsu-don, which comes with a small bowl of miso soup. This costs $7.30. I consider it fast-food price (think Yoshinoya). Nothing much to complain, except that  the 3 edamame peas make me laugh, they were the token greens in the bowl.

KL had the pork katsu curry rice ($11.50). It comes with a really miserable side salad made up of iceberg lettuce, some cucumber, tomatoes with presumably Thousand Island dressing. The curry is nice and flavorful in my opinion. KL responds that the one at MOF is still better.

As said, it’s a quick bite. Nothing much to complain, and nothing to rave either. After that, we adjourned to Brewerkz at Riverside Point.

We shared a beer sampler, since they have so many different kinds of beer, we thought it’d be a great introduction. The sampler set is made off 4 x 90ml glasses of beer of your choice, and it costs $13. I think that’s a fair price for variety, at least. We picked Golden Ale, White Rabbit, Ocktoberfest, White Rabbit and Fruitwerkz. The first two are lighter with no strong aftertaste while the latter two tasted more beer-ish than I’d like. As some of you might know, I’m not a beer person. I do hard liquor, but not beer. First there’s the gas sensation which I don’t particularly like, then there’s that hoppy aftertaste. In any case, after the beer, I did a cider too. Ciders are far nicer than beer in my opinion. The difference? Beer is made from barley or wheat, and ciders from apple juice.

I had a Dickens Sparkling Cider Rose, I think it’s a combination of cider and rose wine. The drink is pink. *grin*

I think us girls need to have more girl friend dates. It was fun the two of us chatting, but it would have been much better with more people. We think.

[...] beer. This is the Golden Ale, one of the lightest easy drinking beers they have. A revelation from my previous trip there with KL. Since this time I went there during lunch time, it was beer Happy Hour and 500ml costs $6. [...]
