why is it that when we see something funny on TV we laugh but when we see it in real life we reject it?
Like slapstick comedy – I don’t watch them because I don’t laugh when I see people fall on the streets. So why is it still a popular type of entertainment? Why do people still watch them?
Like watching cross-dressing ah-kwa on local TV – I reject it because it serves to entertain people who find ah-kwas funny. Funny that the same group of people gawk and stare and make infantile comments when they see a real one on the streets.
Like watching reality TV – and knowing fully well it’s really not real in the sense it is scripted to some extent – it sseems fun to watch people bitch and sabotage each other, watch people meltdown from pressure, watch people fail and get eliminated. Do entertained viewers feel the same way when things like that happen in real life?
Is this yet another kind of double standard our sick society has?
Maybe if I behaved the same way I can meld into society better.
If entertainment mimics life…
