I met up with the girls for lunch today as a belated birthday lunch for KL! We went to Aston’s at The Cathay. I’ve never been to any of the other branches, so this is was something new!
First, some pictures for you to ogle at:

Annabel’s fish with herbs, with potato salad and garden vegetables. Costs $7.20 (!)

KL’s Double Up Chicken, which costs only $10.50 but contains two portions of chicken! She chose black pepper chicken and some fried chicken with coleslaw and fries. The fries are peppered with some chilli salt, very nice! Alas, the fries were soggy by the time I got to pinch them, so not sure if it’s usually like that.

My black pepper steak with baked potato and garden vegetables. The steak is oh-so-thick and succulent. Costs $11.50. Definitely worth the price.

Cel’s chicken and sausage combo served with mashed potato and onion rings. It looks too much like a fat breakfast, heh. This costs $10.90.
QL turned vegetarian so she ate garlic bread with side dishes of potato salad and garden vegetables. The food was cheap and great, just that most of the sauces are too salty. I really wonder how they can make enough profit! They do not charge service charge, only 7% GST. I am beginning to love this place. The carnivore in me influencing me to go there again soon.
But be prepared to queue on weekends, or at dinner times.

MY GOSH! You’re making me hungry! I only dined at Aston’s once and it took a while before we could get seats. Worth it though. =)))
Wahaha. This is cheap and good. Move over Botak Jones, Aston’s is my new favourite.
there’s an astons at PGP too. but i think the variety is less there since it’s an astons express.
Yup, I heard. But I think on their blog they mentioned that it’s temporarily closed.
i want to eat them all, damn it! i hate you.
hahaha! If you ever come over we’ll go eat. :P
I think Botak Jones and Aston’s are different in the sense that BJ’s has more cheese in its menu and their servings are really big. Good for sharing..though then again I very much liked Aston’s too :)
And actually you have to queue no matter what time or which day you go..unless you arrive like 15 minutes before they officially open.
Yup, I agree that we can’t compare it that way. But given a choice, I’d pick Aston’s over Botak Jones.
Key to queuing for less time – go in small groups, haha. That day the actually had tables for 2 (that they cannot combine – no space) empty… yup.
Looks so good! must go one of these days!
Yup! I think they have branches in the west. Can check from http://astonsspecialties.blogspot.com/ too.
Aston Sucks!!!!
Had a bad pre Father’s Day dinner with my folks & wife at Aston Spec @ East Coast Rd last nite.
The restaurant manager Ken was sulky, rude & ungracious when we requested for table change since my mum find it too cold. Don’t even bother to response when I thank him (We owe him a living?)
The part time waiter just threw the sachets of sugar on the table when he serves my mum hot tea We owe the whole joint a living?)
The only saving grace is this guy Kenny apologise to us on his behalf that makes me sit down and not to create a scene.
We spend about $80 (Tenderloin, Ribs, Lamb Loin, Fish) for table of 4 so we should have spitted out this chain, went to Botak instead.
Not coming back anymore, it suck!!!
